Anemia Profile
If you're feeling unusually tired, weak, or pale, your provider may recommend this panel to check for anemia. It looks at your red blood cell counts (CBC) along with iron, vitamin B12, and folate levels, the nutrients your body needs to make healthy red blood cells and the most common causes of anemia when they run low.

About This Test
Anemia happens when your body doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen through your tissues. This panel starts with a Complete Blood Count to look at the size, number, and health of your red blood cells, then checks iron levels and vitamin B12 and folate, two of the most common nutritional causes of anemia. Because B12 and folate deficiency can look similar to iron deficiency on a basic blood count, testing all of these together in one draw helps identify the actual cause, which affects how it's treated.
