About This Test
Your body converts much of its T4 hormone into T3, the more biologically active form used by your cells. This panel checks TSH, Free T4, and Free T3 together, which can help reveal conversion problems that wouldn't show up if only TSH and T4 were tested. This fuller picture is particularly useful when someone has thyroid-related symptoms despite normal TSH and T4 results, or to help evaluate an overactive thyroid when TSH is low but T4 looks normal.
